Projects

DAF #2 (Former Clarifier #4)

In the Fall of 2024 UWSS started the conversion of the former Clarifier #4 over to DAF #2 at the Ruthven Water Treatment Plant (WTP).  This capital works conversion is part of the UWSS's Water Quality Master Plan to improve the pre-treatment process.  This DAF system assists with elevated raw water turbidity (storm events), cold water conditions, fluctuations in flows and algae blooms.  Project updates can be found here.

Reservoir #3

UWSS has taken on the ambitious project of creating a third reservoir on water treatment property lands.  This project commenced in the Spring of 2024, with expected completion in 2026.  The new reservoir will help alleviate some storage issues that have been hampering the operations during high flow periods. The capital investment for this project is $50 million, which will vastly improve the storage capacity at the Ruthven WTP.  Check back here for updates and pictures as the construction progress continues over the coming months.

UWSS Inc and WUC Redundancy Project

UWSS Inc. and Windsor Utilities Commission (WUC) have been working in collaboration with each other in partnership with CIMA+ Canada Inc. over the past several years on a study of water redundancy between both systems.  This partnership could assist each system in the event of failure, natural disaster or some other unknown situation.  To discover more information regarding project updates and potential Public Information Centres please direct your attention to our collaborative host website
