A Water Canada article indicates that both federal and provincial governments will be accepting new rounds of applications for this funding which will improve local watersheds.
The Federal Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food notes that the Government of Canada is “committed to helping farms protect our environment, including our natural bounty of lakes, rivers, and other freshwater systems”. This project will target improved soil health and reduced risk of nutrient losses in Lake Erie and Lake St. Clair watersheds.
This article explains the types of projects that this funding will be assisting, some examples include: vegetated buffers, planting vegetative covers, or modifying equipment to improve management of agricultural nutrients.
